This ranges from ensuring our staff and suppliers are paid, ensuring compliance with public sector legislation, standards, and expectations, maintaining a “Licence to operate” and providing strategic and practical financial advice to decision makers to ensure we operate within our budgets and deliver value for money.
We are seeking an Accounts Assistant who enjoys working in an exciting work environment, has good communication skills, and has the ability to deliver within challenging timeframes. They will understand the financial information needs of the government, be innovative and continually look to improve and add greater value to the service provided. You will have good interpersonal and communication skills, and an enthusiastic approach to work with a ‘can-do’ attitude. The Accounts Assistant will be reporting to the Team Leader – Reconciliations as part of the Finance Reconciliations Team.
Key Accountabilities:
- Manage daily imports and reconciliations of NZ Police Accounts
- Clearing and reconciling monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Executing payment runs from FMIS SAP
- Processing all payments made from NZ Police bank accounts.
- Set up and ongoing maintenance of Debit Cards and top ups.
- Issuing and on-going maintenance of Credit cards and transaction processing.

To be successful in this role you will require the following:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge and experience in transactions processing and general accounting.
- Good understanding of Microsoft Excel.
- Able to organize and co-ordinate multiple tasks.
- A proven ability to build effective working relationships.
