Job Duties of a Truck Mechanic

Some of the significant tasks of a Truck Mechanic are the following.

  1. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues with trucks, including diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and steering systems.
  2. Perform preventative maintenance on trucks, including oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid replacements.
  3. Use diagnostic devices and software to troubleshoot and specify problems with trucks.
  4. Test and calibrate truck components, such as brakes and suspension systems, to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  5. Install and repair truck parts, including engines, transmissions, and electrical systems.
  6. Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and drawings to perform repairs and maintenance on trucks.
  7. Document repairs and maintenance performed on trucks, including parts used, time spent, and any additional notes.
  8. Order and maintain a stock of parts and supplies needed for repairs and maintenance of trucks.
  9. Communicate with truck drivers and dispatchers to understand their needs and provide estimations for repairs and maintenance.
  10. Adhere to safety measures and regulations when working with trucks, including wearing appropriate protective equipment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • 5 years of working experience as Truck Mechanic is required.
  • Graduate of a four-year undergraduate course.
