Job Duties of a Slaughterer
- Preparing animals for slaughter: A slaughterer is responsible for preparing animals for slaughter by restraining and stunning them before they are killed.
- Removing animal hides: After an animal is killed, a slaughterer removes its hide or skin using specialized tools such as knives and cleavers.
- Separating meat from bones: A slaughterer separates the meat from the bones and cuts it into smaller portions using various cutting tools such as knives, saws, and cleavers.
- Trimming and cleaning meat: A slaughterer trims and cleans the meat to remove any unwanted or unhealthy parts, such as fat, bones, and gristle.
- Packaging and labeling meat: Once the meat is cut and cleaned, a slaughterer packages it for sale by wrapping it in plastic or other packaging materials and labeling it with the appropriate information, such as the type of meat and the date it was processed.
- Maintaining equipment and work area: A slaughterer is responsible for maintaining the equipment used in the slaughter and processing of meat, as well as keeping the work area clean and sanitary.
- Following safety protocols: A slaughterer must follow safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure that meat products are safe for human consumption.
Eligibility Criteria
- 5 years of working experience is required.
