With state-of-the-art facilities constantly expanding and a roadmap for further development over the next five years, our client is in search of a highly skilled Site Manager. The role entails supervising an internal team, as well as overseeing external contractors on larger projects across their facilities around Millmerran, QLD.
About the Role:
Working closely with the General Manager – Construction, you will oversee tasks such as coordinating internal and external contractors, troubleshooting day-to-day issues, and inspecting work during construction to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
The internal construction team will oversee projects such as equipment / service upgrades, refurbishments and newbuilds (amenity blocks, sheds etc). Project values will range anywhere between $500k – $3mil+. You will also play a key role, when required in managing larger projects where specialist contractors are engaged.
Promoting a supportive and collaborative working environment, you will be responsible for directing and assisting a well-established team of carpenters, and Labourers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in management of budgets and scheduling of construction projects.
- Supervising all aspects of works on site, taking responsibility as the site representative.
- With support of the GM – Construction (Project Manager) ensure compliance of all relevant construction documentation.
- Identifying and procuring all required resources needed for projects including materials, equipment, and labour.
- Assisting the HR department with the recruitment and integration of new team members.
- Providing hands-on support to the construction team when needed.
About You:
With proven experience in a rural construction setting, you will have strong project management skills, and the ability to manage, influence, and mentor your team, whilst ensuring all administrative requirements are met in a timely manner.
To be considered for this role, it’s important you can address the following:
- Minimum Low Rise builders licence
- Experience managing commercial / industrial projects up to $5mil
- Minimum of 8 years of industry experience, including 3 years in site / project management.
Desirable:
- Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management or similar
- Previous experience in the agricultural industry and/or rural environments will be highly regarded.
- Competency in the safe operation of various plant equipment (excavator, backhoe, grader, roller, skid steer, etc.).
- Licenses to Perform High Risk Work (dogman, forklift, crane).
- Tickets/qualifications in other relevant trades (e.g., welding, carpentry, joinery, concreting, mechanic).
- Understanding of Quality Assurance and Food Safety Systems, including HACCP requirements.
- Knowledge and experience in Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG).
- Sound knowledge of equipment maintenance operations.
