POSITION SUMMARY:

Senior Developer

The Application & Platform Program team is responsible for providing application and platform management services to the department’s supported system solutions. The team is responsible for enhancements, incident management & resolution for level 3 support, across 90+ supported systems and underlying platforms.

The Senior Developer will undertake the building of software including design, development, testing and deployment services across multiple projects, as well as minor enhancements and maintenance services across a range of departmental system solutions.

The role is also responsible for ensuring appropriate documentation complies with Project Delivery Methodology (PDM) standards.

Accountabilities

  • Design, development and testing of application and reporting solutions.
  • Ensure design, coding, documentation and testing of the code written by the team is completed in accordance with best-practice software development, IDS guidelines and PDM methodologies.
  • Solve complex technical problems and provide technical direction to other developers.
  • Perform analysis and diagnosis of application systems and reporting problems including debugging of code.
  • Prepare, develop, maintain and manage detailed work estimates and schedules.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to develop their technical skills and knowledge.
  • Communicating project status to project managers in informal or formal manner as required.
  • Pro-actively identify, document and manage issues and risks associated with work being undertaken.
  • Cooperate with managers in consultative processes that improve effective working environment by using the relevant tools, systems, procedures, guidelines and policies.
  • Maintain awareness on current trends and industry practices that could have a potential benefit to the department.
  • Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department’s records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department’s occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
