Permanent Full-Time
Band 2 $59,308 – $60,689 per annum (inclusive of industry allowance) plus 10.5% statutory superannuation, 9-day fortnight
Wellington Shire Council is currently seeking a Road Management and Operations General Operator to join our Maffra Depot in a permanent full-time capacity.
Reporting to the Team Leader, your role will provide general support services to the road crew for the improvement and maintenance of Council’s road network across Wellington Shire.
As our ideal candidate, you will be a team player with the willingness to learn how to carry out maintenance of roads, roadsides and drains. In addition to this, you will learn how to operate relevant plant and equipment.
We are looking for someone who is punctual, hard-working and has the demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision and can communicate effectively with our local community. As this is a labour-intensive role, the successful candidate will need to be fit for physically demanding work.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate how they meet the criteria below:
- Willingness to learn how to operate tractors, trucks, loaders, plant, and equipment used for road maintenance.
- Ability to efficiently complete work in the most effective manner while ensuring Occupational Health & Safety practices are always observed.
- A strong work ethic, can-do attitude, and good communication skills.
- Capacity to undertake Certificate III level training in Civil Construction Road Maintenance and Construction.
