We are looking for a Registrar in Obstetrics
Description:
This is a great opportunity for a junior doctor with 1-2 years experience in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology to join a busy district general hospital in a registrar post accredited by the RANZCOG.
The maternity department comprises a 6 bed delivery suites with 4 adjoining antenatal beds, 14 post-natal beds and a 6 cot Neonatal Unit accepting premature infants from 28 weeks gestation. Gynaecology patients are cared for in the surgical ward.
Key Clinical responsibilities:
- You will be responsible to your Consultant for the day to day clinical management of the team’s patients. After hours the RMO is responsible to the on-call Consultant for all the patients in the secondary obstetrics and gynaecology service.
- You will be required to attend to any medical emergency when on call.
- You will be required to attend Consultant ward rounds when performed within ordinary hours.
- You will attend outpatient and ante natal clinics as required by the Consultant.
- You will participate in theatre sessions as required by the Consultant (Elective theatre lists shall be scheduled and posted in theatre by midday the previous day or midday Friday in the case of Monday lists.)
Role Requirements
To be successful in your application for this opportunity as the Registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
- A degree in medicine – MBBS, MBChB, MD
- A minimum of 2 years pre-vocational training – FY1/2, internship
- 12-24 month’s experience in obstetrics and gynaecology
- Medical Council of New Zealand general registration or eligibility for this
