Job Duties of a Radiographer

  1. Patient care: Radiographers are responsible for preparing patients for medical imaging procedures, explaining the procedure to the patient, and ensuring their comfort and safety during the process.
  2. Operating equipment: Radiographers are trained to operate various types of imaging equipment, including X-ray machines, CT scanners, and MRI scanners. They are responsible for ensuring the equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
  3. Image acquisition and analysis: Radiographers are responsible for acquiring high-quality medical images that are clear and accurate. They must be able to analyze the images to ensure that they meet the diagnostic needs of the patient’s healthcare provider.
  4. Recordkeeping: Radiographers are responsible for maintaining accurate records of each patient’s medical images and other relevant information.
  5. Quality control: Radiographers must adhere to strict safety standards to ensure the safety of patients and other medical professionals. They must follow safety procedures and quality control measures to minimize the risk of exposure to radiation.
  6. Collaborating with healthcare providers: Radiographers work closely with other healthcare professionals, such as doctors and nurses, to ensure that the imaging procedure is effective in diagnosing and treating patients.
  7. Continuing education: Radiographers must stay up-to-date on advances in imaging technology and techniques, as well as continuing education requirements to maintain their certification.

Eligibility Criteria

  • A minimum of 1-year of working experience is required.
  • Candidates must be a Bachelor’s / College degree holder in Medical Science or similar fields.
  • Bachelor of Radiation Science Technology Graduate.
  • Preferably HCPC registered
