Job Duties of a Painter

- Apply paint, varnish, or other finishes using brushes, rollers, or spray guns, providing even range and smooth finishes.
- Cover floors, furniture, and other surfaces with drop cloths or tape to shield them from paint splatters and spills.
- Fill paint containers and mixing devices with paint and solvents, and clean equipment after use.
- Clear old paint or wallpaper from surfaces using scrapers or steam machines.
- Apply unique finishes, such as stencils, textures, or faux finishes, using brushes or sponges.
- Coordinate with other professions, such as carpenters or electricians, to ensure proper scheduling and fulfillment of projects.
- Evaluate and maintain reasonable ventilation and safety protocols while working with paints and solvents.
- Maintain accurate logs of materials used and hours worked for billing and stock purposes.
