Role of a Delivery Driver
Some of the important duties of a Delivery Driver are the following.
- Safely drive a delivery vehicle, such as a car, van, truck, or motorcycle.
- Plan and execute delivery routes to confirm packages or goods are delivered on time and in the most efficient manner.
- Load and unload packages or goods into the delivery vehicle, ensuring they are appropriately secured to prevent damage during transportation.
- Confirm the accuracy of delivery addresses and packages or goods before leaving for delivery.
- Use GPS or other navigation devices to locate delivery destinations and avoid traffic or road closures.
- Follow traffic laws and regulations, such as speed limits and parking regulations, to ensure safe and legal driving.
- Maintain proper delivery records, such as delivery times, signatures, and any problems encountered during delivery.
- Communicate with clients to provide delivery updates and address any concerns or questions they may have.
- Conduct frequent maintenance checks on the delivery vehicle, such as checking oil and tire pressure levels, and report any issues or required repairs to management.
- Cling to company policies and procedures, such as dress code and safety guidelines, while representing the company in a professional and polite manner.
Requirements
- High school certificate.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs safely.
- Able to pass a Drug & Alcohol Screen.
- Experience with loading vehicles and operating pallet jack.
- Clean motor vehicle record.
