Job Duties of a Chef
Some of the key duties of a Chef are the following.
- Planning and creating menus that are innovative, delicious, and meet the requirements of customers
- Preparing and cooking food to high standards, assuring that all dishes are made to specification and are visually appealing
- Managing the kitchen team and supervising food preparation and cooking processes
- Maintaining inventory levels and confirming that all kitchen supplies are stocked
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and food hygiene benchmarks
- Maintaining kitchen equipment and facilities, ensuring that they are clean and well-maintained
- Ordering supplies and managing budgets
- Training and mentoring junior staff fellows to enhance their cooking skills and techniques.
Eligibility Criteria
- A minimum of 5 years of experience is required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food and Beverage Preparation/Service Management.
- Trade Certificate, Certificate III in commercial cookery.
