BURKE AND WILLS HOTEL PTY LTD trading as Burke & Wills Hotel is looking for a full time Chef or Cook for their busy venue located at 554 Ruthven St, Toowoomba, Queensland.

The Burke & Wills Hotel, located at Toowoomba’s central business district, is part of the Hakfoort Group’s collection of six hotels across the state. Led by Dianne and Albert Hakfoort, the family-owned group operates establishments in Brisbane, Toowoomba, and Bowen, employing around 200 staff. 

​The Burke & Wills Hotel, offers a luxurious stay with a variety of accommodations, including the opulent Luxury King Suite and the spacious Family Room. Guests can dine at Zack’s Restaurant & Bar, which serves modern Australian cuisine, and enjoy facilities such as a 24-hour gym, EV charging stations, and a gaming lounge featuring 40 state-of-the-art machines. The hotel also provides versatile function spaces suitable for events ranging from intimate gatherings to larger celebrations.

To be considered for the role you need to have a relevant industry qualification and at least 2 years’ experience in a similar position.Chef or Cook job

  • Must display excellent prep, cooking and plating skills
  • Strong emphasis on quality and consistency of dishes
  • Demonstrate a keen Interest in growing food trends and techniques
  • Ability to contribute to menu planning, food cost estimation and food cost control
  • Work with the management team on food preparation and seasonal menu planning
  • Stock ordering
  • Labour cost control and assist the owners with rostering
  • A sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and WHS
  • Immaculate presentation and grooming
  • Ability to handle large service numbers
  • Above average customer care and service skills
  • Needs to be able to train our junior team on cooking techniques and procedures
  • Assist with staff hiring and training
  • planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies
  • Discuss customer requirements and request with the frost on house team
  • Available nights, weekends and school holidays.
